One of my favorite restaurants, The Southerner in Saugatuck, is honoring Dolly Parton by raising funds to benefit the Allegan County Chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program, designed to inspire young children to read, is completely free for registered children from birth through age five.
Inspired by a recipe found in Parton’s “Good Lookin Cookin’: A Year of Meals – A Lifetime of Family, Friends and Food”, the Dirt Road Martini combines vodka, iced tea, rhubarb brine and olive brine, with a peppadew and lemon garnish ($14). All proceeds from the Dirt Road Martini will benefit the foundation.
In addition to the cocktail promotion, online carryout orders and guests ordering at the
patio kiosk will have the option to round up their bill. The total amount from those rounding up will also be donated.
After her passing, Dolly Parton’s family asked her fans to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging @DollyParton.
