Two of the city’s most distinctive properties—21c Museum Hotel Louisville and Hotel Distil—have earned major national honors this summer, reinforcing Louisville’s growing reputation as one of the country’s most compelling destinations for experiential travel.
21c Museum Hotel Louisville was named an inaugural winner of Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Triple Crown Awards, a distinction reserved for hotels that have earned the publication’s coveted Hot List, Gold List and Readers’ Choice Awards. The honor recognizes properties that have earned praise from both editors and travelers and places 21c among a select group of hotels worldwide.
Just days later, Hotel Distil on historic Whiskey Row was named Marriott’s Hotel of the Year for the United States and Canada through the Hospitality Excellence Awards, recognizing exceptional guest experiences, innovation and service excellence across Marriott’s portfolio.
The dual recognition highlights two very different but distinctly Louisville hotel experiences:
- Located on West Main Street’s Museum Row, 21c Museum Hotel Louisville combines a boutique hotel with a free contemporary art museum open to the public 24 hours a day. The property, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 21c brand in 2026, occupies restored 19th-century tobacco and bourbon warehouses and features rotating exhibitions alongside the acclaimed Proof on Main restaurant. The hotel was also recently highlighted on CBS Saturday Morning as one of the country’s standout hotel experiences.
- A few blocks east, Hotel Distil showcases Louisville’s bourbon heritage through a luxury hotel experience inside the former J.T.S. Brown & Sons barreling warehouse. The Autograph Collection property has become a cornerstone of Whiskey Row thanks to immersive bourbon programming, its nightly Repeal Day-inspired toast, Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse, the recently opened 1933 Society speakeasy and bourbon-centric guest experiences such as its Kentucky Peerless-themed suite.
