An exciting new work starred on stage recently at the Reva and David Logan Center at The University of Chicago.
The company, founded by Stephanie Martinez, who is also the artistic director, is based in Chicago. Music is by Gigi Dahill-Fachel and sets by Antonia Contro. The dance work is the first full-length ballet by Para.Mar Dance Theatre. https://www.paramardance.com/The work “Mujeres” is a standout production based on the writings and poems of Gabriela Mistral.
The segments of the ballet showcase women in different situations and going through various emotions and stages from torment and passion to agony and resilence.
“Mujeres” is brought to life by the talented troop which stars dancers Christopher Bloom, Jayme Brauerman, Julienne Buenaventura, Kyle Halford, James La Russa, Laura Morton La Russa, Cori Lewis, Marcel Mejia, Gabrielle Sprauve and Taylor Yocum.
Among highlighted vignettes that make up “Mujeres” are “La Bailarina,” “La Loca,” “La Abandonado” and “La Fugitiva.”
