Fans of the hit movie “Dirty Dancing” will want to be in the audience for the live production “Dirty Dancing:The Musical,” which is currently in Chicago.
“Dirty Dancing: The Musical” continues to Sept. 20 at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago.
The show, which is a new production, is directed by Lonny Price. It tells the coming-of-age story of Frances Houseman, also known as Baby, as she spends the summer of 1963 with her family at Kellerman’s Resort. There she learns about love, being independent, the importance of standing up for what’s right as well as the magic of social dancing.
“Dirty Dancing:The Musical” features an exciting musical score, hot choreograhic moves and talented dancers who make the production soar. Choreography is created by Darrell Grand Moultrie.
Among performers starring in the show are Annalese Starzec as Baby; Blake Zelesnikar as Johnny Castle; Olivia Cece as Penny; Bryan Fenkart as Jake Houseman; Ashley Lalonde as Elizabeth; Dan Klimko as Neil Kellerman; Gina Lamparella as Marjorie Houseman; Loren Lester as Max Kellerman and Ethan Peterson as Billy.
Highlighted tunes in the show include “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” “Hungry Eyes,” and “Do You Love Me?”
